Das US-Außenministerium schreibt laut AFP ab jetzt in Times New Roman, 14 Punkt, statt Courier, 12 Punkt (via Kottke). Keine sehr schöne Kombination mit der offiziellen Schrift des Ministeriums: „The type family used to formally identify the Department is Bodoni. This type has a classic serif face which is appropriate to the Department´s dignity and position as a senior cabinet-level department.“

Nebenbei bemerkt sind die Handbücher des US-Außenministeriums, die online zu finden sind, bürokratische Schatzkammern der Diplomatie. Vorschrift 5 FAH-1 H-435.2, Punkt c, für die korrekte Beschriftung von Briefumschlägen lautet: „Jerusalem is a special situation. Do not designate a country for Jerusalem. Direct specific questions regarding the correct name of a foreign city or country to the Department country desk or the Office of the Geographer (INR/GE).“
