That time capsule

A digital time capsule from 1999 is buried at MIT Sloan.

In the final days of the 20th century, 10 professors from the MIT Sloan School of Management shed light on the future of neckties, the genetic code, the evolution of the brain and global warming. Their insights have been added to Sloan´s Digital Time Capsule, sealed initially in February 1999, and scheduled to be opened in February 2004.

Frühjahrsputz

Leichte Design-Änderung bei Wortfeld.

So, jetzt hat sich das Design von Wortfeld ein wenig verändert — falls es bei jemandem ganz seltsam aussieht oder ich etwas vergessen habe (nicht unwahrscheinlich), freu ich mich über Nachricht!

Sonnenbrillen im Haar

Natürlich: Mimikry.

Heute morgen ist mir schlagartig klar geworden, worauf das Tragen von Sonnenbrillen im Haar zurückzuführen ist: Mimikry! Das Prinzip ist beispielsweise von der Krabbenaugengrundel bekannt, die so tut, als wäre sie eine Krabbe. Genauso schlägt die Sonnenbrillenträgerin mit ihren dunklen, leicht reflektierenden Scheinaugen eine Vielzahl von Fressfeinden in die Flucht.

Transatlantic flights: Required fields

Lots of data travelling across the Atlantic.

The European Commission has formally decided to transfer air passenger data to the US authorities. Data from the following Passenger Name Record (PNR) categories will be stored automatically in US government databases for at least three years and six months. If the PNR has been manually accessed, it remains stored for eight years.
1. PNR record locator code
2. Date of reservation
3. Date(s) of intended travel
