Another Tillack raid
The Brussels office of the journalist has been searched once more.
The Brussels office of Stern correspondent Hans-Martin Tillack has been searched once more, the magazine reports in a press statement. According to Stern, police investigators forced open a filing cabinet and took the files to the police station. In the presence of Tillack, they broke open another cabinet which had been sealed during the first raid. The magazine condemns the search as massive attack on press freedom. The newspaper Tageszeitung (taz) adds that 695 pages from Tillacks archive have been officially seized. According to an EUobserver article, the allegations against him concern the sum of 8000 German marks or Euro for bribing an EU official. The journalist categorically denies having paid for information about a scandal at the EU anti-fraud office OLAF. OLAF’s supervisory committee currently investigates whether the office overstepped the mark in the Tillack case.
