WSIS: Das war's

Der WSIS-Gipfel übernimmt den Kompromiss zum Thema Internet Governance.

Im Bereich Internet Governance ist es auf dem WSIS-Gipfel beim vorher ausgehandelten Kompromiss geblieben: Eine vom UN-Generalsekretär ernannte Arbeitsgruppe aus Regierungen, Unternehmen und NGOs soll bis zur nächsten WSIS-Runde 2005 in Tunis einen Bericht vorlegen. Der Leiter der US-Delegation, David Gross, nennt diese Entscheidung in einem Interview (via Lextext) exzellent: „One thing we learned during the preparatory talks is that there is a great deal of misunderstanding of the issues, including Internet governance.“ Michael Froomkin lobt Andy Orams WSIS-Analyse, merkt aber an, dass die Nicht-US-Perspektive fehlt: „Folks out there are getting real grumpy with what they see, with some justice, as US domination of the infrastructure.“
